Microscopes

Microscopes are instruments that are used to see objects, that are too small to see by the naked eye. The first microscope was made in 1595 in Holland.

Optical Microscopes use refractive lenses of glass or plastic, to focus the light into somebodys eye!

A Electron Microscope uses a electrical chrage to create a enlarged image! Some Elctron Microscopes can englarge a image up to 2 million times!

Dectectives use microscopes to look for D.N.A and fingerprints.

Before Microscopes were invented people used mirrors to see things up close!

Many people remember Marthin Luther King as the 'Dreamer'. He had a dream to make equal rights for black people in the world.

He was standing on the balcone of Lorraine Motel at 6:01pm, when bullets were shot at him, emergancy services tried to keep him alive although he was 39 years old his heart was the age of a sixty year old. Chromatography

Chromatography is a way of seperating a mixture of chemicals such as ink, makeup or food colouring. It can give clues to many crimes.

If someone rights a ransome note, the police might take the note and put the end in water and the ink will seperate into colours then they will take draw dots on another piece of paper with pens the poilice suspect from many suspects they will put that in water aswell, the ink from the pen will seperate so the ink that matches the ink from the ransome note will be the used pen, then the forensic team will take fingerprints from the pen.

D.N.A Fingerprinting

D.N.A fingerprints help solve crimes. D.N.A on your fingerprints is the same D.N.A in your body, so if at a crime there is a suspects blood, the forensic investorgators could take the D.N.A fingerprint and match it up with D.N.A in the suspects blood and find out who it is. The inventor was Sir Alec Jeffreys discorverd this on Monday 10th September 1984. He has won the Albert Lasker Award for Clinical Medical Research, The Royal Medal awarded by the Royal Society and the Great Briton Award. His work has solved murder cases, rape cases and many other crimes.

Blood Types

Blood Types is the classification of blood. What makes blood red is the red blood cells, that carry oxygen, suspened in plasma. If we didnt have red blood cells our blood would be yellow. Other things in our blood include platlets, platlets clot to form a scap, and there are also white blood cells to fight off infections.

There are four main blood types, A, B, AB and O. When you get put into blood groups, your either a positive or negetive. Scientist can tell who you are as DNA exsits in your white blood cells. There are fewer White Blood Cells in your blood than Red Blood Cells. The majoirity of the world is O+.

Fingerprints

Everyone in the world has different fingerprints, yes including identical twins.
Fingerprints can indentify people in a crime. But not many people know that everyones ears are also different except indentical twins!
Alot of people think fingerprints are only used for crime identification, but if we didnt have the ridges or loops on our fingers we wouldnt be able to grip things as there would be no friction.

There are nine patterens of fingerprints recgonised by the FBI:-

Right Pocket Loop

Left Pocket Loop
Arch
Whorl
Mixed Figure

Left Loop
Right Loop
Double Loop
Tentarch

But remember everyones fingerprints are different!

Welcome

Welcome to my CSI project. People who work as CSI investigators, look at Crime Scenes, dead bodies and things like that. They can work in a science lab or at a crime scene. They wear sanatized clothes, such as white suits, gloves and gogles, which yes don't really look stylish but are suited for thier job. So what does C.S.I stand for? Well it stands for Crime Scene Investogators. So over a few weeks I will turn into one!
